The Tub at Talia
A near-perfect circular sinkhole eroded into the cliff top at Talia, where the ocean churns far below through a rock window.
The Tub is a geological oddity that stops every passing traveller in their tracks. At the cliff edge near Talia, the limestone has collapsed into an almost perfectly round sinkhole, its sheer walls dropping to a churning pool connected to the open ocean through a gap in the rock.
A viewing area at the rim lets you peer down into the swirling water while the Southern Ocean booms against the cliffs on either side. It sits just along from Woolshed Cave, and the two together make Talia one of the most memorable cliff-top stops on the west coast.
The site is reached by unsealed road and a short walk, with informal viewing at the rim, so caution near the unfenced edges is essential. Combine it with the cave and the wider Elliston cliff drive for a day of raw coastal geology.
